Dropbox for Android is a very good cloud platform which allows you to store all of your data online and access it anytime. It is an amazing cloud app that permits storing and accessing files on any device, regardless of the operating system. You can simply upload photos and documents from your phone to your Dropbox account and you can download them on your Android tablet in real time.
The app interface is very simple and easy to use. It contains a primary menu in which you can check all files that have been uploaded since you signed up or you can check the most recent ones. It also provides an Offline feature in which you can edit them on the go. You can also save files to read when you are offline, for instance when travelling or when being outside of data coverage.
We tested the app to see how fast it functions and uploads the files. Under the Files menu users can create folders, text files and can take photos. In addition, uploading to Dropbox can be done by scanning a document or by uploading files, photos and videos.
Scanning a document is done using the phone’s camera, which will automatically detect the document’s margins. After taking the picture you will see that it looks exactly as if you would have used a scanner. After your document is scanned you get plenty of features. Users can adjust, rotate, add more pages and even arrange the uploaded pages to align them in order. Once your document is edited you can assign a name to it and it can be saved either as a PNG or as a PDF.
Uploading files is also very simple to do. Under the Files menu you need to hit the “Add” button (a blue circle with a +) then select Upload. We uploaded some of the photos located on the SD card and we were pleased to see how fast they uploaded. If you are trying to upload files from more Android devices, then you can simply hit the Refresh button located in the upper right corner. It will synchronize with all of your devices and show all uploaded files.
Dropbox can be set up to upload files from your Android device anytime you are connected to a Wi-Fi connection, to avoid data charges. To do this you need to enter the Main Menu, then hit Settings and go under How To Update. In addition, users get access to more privacy and security settings under the same menu.
