Autodesk Pixlr Mobile is nothing of what you imagine of a mobile photo editor. Formerly Pixlr Express, this photo editor can be downloaded by Android users for free, or buy a premium version. On launching, the App gives you the option of either editing a new photo or a photo from your device folders like gallery. After making a selection, you’re taken to a photo editing screen with 4 main photo manipulation options; Borders, Overlays, Effects and Adjustments.
The robust Adjustment Menu is something that cannot be ignored in this Android photo app. Users are able to manipulate their photos using tools like Red Eye Reduction and Whiten, Sharpen, Blur, History Brush, Contrast and Brighten, Color Fix, Rotate, Crop, and De-noise. You can even make minute adjustments to each of these settings, so it’s not just a tap-to-apply editing mode.
The Pixlr for Android can edit pictures of 19+ megapixels a saving mode that gives it an edge over the other editors. Moreover, it has a collage feature that makes sure none of your pictures is left outside the box. This can save 4378 X 4378 pixels square collages.
For Instagram enthusiasts, the Focal Blur feature and the Color Splash feature is something that will bring a unique editing to your photos. There is also the Auto Fix feature that will fix all your color problems (adjusting contrast levels, adjust exposure, adjust color tone) magically.
When you get to the Effects menu, you’ll be overwhelmed by the number of vibrant colors, vintage tones and looks, and the freedom to adjust the opacity of filters by shifting the Fade slider. The overlays options allow you to play around with radiance of your picture. You can manipulate vignettes; add circular, smoke or flames. You can also use Bokeh effects to balance the lighting of your photo. Lastly, Pixlr for Android offers a variety of borders in different sizes and shapes.
Although the User Interface in Pixlr for Android is excellent, you should be very careful when editing. The app has tendencies of exiting the editing screen without a warning if you accidentally hit the Back button. Also, Pixlr doesn’t come with all the effects pre-installed, so you may have to download some.
